Peter is a curator and writer living on awabakal Country in Newcastle, Australia
His curatorial research focuses on aesthetic and conceptual strategies of resistance and inclusion, with a particular interest in online, socially engaged, and queer art practices
Peter is currently Curatorial Lead at Newcastle Art Gallery, contributing to the care, development, presentation, and interpretation of one of Australia’s leading public collections. He has a keen interest in audience-focused strategies to improve access to, and engagement with art and artists.
Previous institutional experience includes curatorial roles at the National Gallery of Australia, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia. He was the inaugural chair of Firstdraft, Sydney’s longest-running artist-run initiative.
He has undertaken independent projects across Australia and written widely on contemporary practice.
